Concert #012
Monday, April 2, 1984 - Ector County Coliseum - Odessa, Texas (11)

Ted Nugent [Penetrator]
MSG(Michael Schenker Group) [Built to Destroy]

First time to see Schenker and Nugent.
Went to the mall after school, my other mother was kind enough to take me. I took my brand new stratocaster copy guitar and stood in line for probably 45 minutes to get into the Record Bar to meet Ted Nugent and singer Brian Howe (future Foreigner, Bad Company) Shout out to the great Mrs. Patti Lopez for taking me!!
I got a Record Bar sack autographed by both, and my Bradley Stratocaster copy signed by Ted Nugent. My big conversation with Ted was when he asked me, "Where do you want it, on the pick guard?" and I nodded yes. Brian Howe then remarked, "Well, I guess the value of that thing just went up."
This was my second autograph from a musician.

Got to the show, and Schenker hit the stage. Every head in the audience was laser focused on Michael Schenker. I felt sorry for his band, because they were posing and doing their thing, but anytime Michael Schenker went to play, all heads would turn in unison. I have never seen anything like it since.
MSG opened with an instrumental called Captain Nemo which was actually getting some airplay on the radio. He was amazing, and it was my first time to get to hear UFO songs live. He seemed a little tense, and would seem much more at ease when I saw him other times in 2010 and 2012.
I became really confused and apathetic when he went all pop in the late 80s and changed the name of the band to McAuley Schenker Group, and he also got hair extensions. Weird move all the way around.

Ted was entertaining. It was before his demented, over-self-inflated ego, belligerent right-wing, nazi political propaganda shouting jack ass personality came to the forefront.
He was way more entertaining in 1984 than when I saw him in the 2000s. He could actually be funny back then. Wow, that all went to hell.
Fuck you Ted Nugent, you pedophile bastard, or as I call him now, Ped Nugent.
Bought an MSG shirt, see below.

What is left of my Ted Nugent autograph after my stupid room-mate decided to learn guitar while I was out of town and rubbed most of it off. It once said, "Crank it one time for Ted - Ted Nugent"
