Foreigner was at the height of their powers. Bryan Adams was just starting a solo career, and would become GIANT by the end of the 80's. At this point though, no one new dick shit about this guy. He did however write a song for fellow Canadian band Loverboy for their second album, Get Lucky.
A really cute girl turned to me during Bryan Adams, and smiled, and put her head on my shoulder. My little 14 year old ass, was thinking, "alright..."
Then she leaned forward and puked on my shoe.
Memories....
The guitarist for Bryan Adams, Keith Scott broke a string, and much to my 14 year old amazement, kept playing. Bryan even came over during the song, picked up the string hanging off of the headstock, and laughing, proceeded to fuck with the guy during his solo section.
I had all four Foreigner albums on vinyl, they were one of the first bands that I really liked. I even had Head Games on 8 track. They were the hottest ticket in the nation, besides maybe Journey at the time, and were great in concert. The Ector County Coliseum was PACKED, and sold out. Not an empty seat in the house. They had a big band, and the guy that played saxaphone on Urgent played at the show. Lou Gramm sounded great, Mick Jones was great, Hell, everything sounded great, probably because I was 14. Bad ass set list, and all before they went to shit later in the 80s doing those awful ballads. They still had some balls at this point. In fact I would say this was their last great album.
Bought my first shirt. Foreigner baseball jersey for $13.
RIP Bob Mayo February 23, 2004, - Keyboards - [Foreigner] Mayo was touring with Peter Frampton in Basel, Switzerland, when he had a heart attack and died.
RIP Frankie LaRocka - (April 17, 1954 – May 12, 2005) (51) drums (Bon Jovi, David Johansen, John Waite) For several years prior to his passing, Frankie had been living with the debilitating heart condition called cardiomyopathy. On or about 5/5/2005, he underwent surgery at New York’s Columbia–Presbyterian Hospital to have a defibrillator implanted to regulate his heartbeat. He returned to his home at 55 Walbrooke Avenue on Staten Island but developed a high fever a few days later. He was admitted to St. Vincent’s Hospital on SI where the fever turned into pneumonia that Frankie, in his weakened post-operative condition, could not withstand.
