Raven [All For One]
Metallica [Kill 'Em All] HOF

Kill 'em All for One Tour - I was STOKED about this concert. Metallica, Anthrax, Raven, Exciter, Slayer, and the like were in heavy rotation in my house, and in most of my friends' houses as well. I figured about 350-400 people would show (in an arena that holds about 4000-5000 people.
Well, about 35 of us showed up.
In late June 1983, Metallica embarked on the two-month Kill 'Em All for One tour with British co-headliners Raven. The tour name melded the titles of the albums the two bands were promoting: Metallica's Kill 'Em All and Raven's All for One, both released on Megaforce. The two groups met in Zazula's home two days before the tour began, and traveled in the same vehicle throughout the tour with five roadies and sound engineer Whitaker. The tour was set to conclude with three shows in San Francisco, thus Hetfield painted "No Life 'til Frisco" on the Winnebago tour bus. The tour had a few poorly attended gigs, such as a performance at the Cheers club in Babylon, New York, attended by some 50 people. After the conclusion of Kill 'Em All for One in early September, Metallica returned to El Cerrito to work on new material. Seven weeks after the tour ended, Metallica booked a number of performances at Bay Area clubs, the first a Halloween gig at the Keystone in Palo Alto. At the Country Club in Reseda, the group debuted "Fight Fire with Fire" and "Creeping Death", along with an early version of "The Call of Ktulu", then titled "When Hell Freezes Over". Three days later, at a gig at The Stone in San Francisco, Metallica premiered "Ride the Lightning", the title track from the upcoming album. In December, Metallica went on a short tour in the Midwest and eastern United States with a three-man road crew: Whitaker, guitar technician John Marshall, and drum technician Dave Marrs. The January 14, 1984 concert in Boston was canceled because the band's equipment was stolen the night before. - Wikipedia
Metallica was set up, you could see lars' drums, and we were READY.
Strangest thing was that this was General Admission, as always at the ECC, but this time, some idiot thought it would be a great idea to set up metal chairs on the floor. They had probably 100-150 chairs set up with an aisle down the middle. They were supposed to hit the stage at 7:30 if memory serves, and it kept getting later, and later. People started getting antsy, and pretty soon the guy behind me was hit in the back of the head by a ball of tape about the size of a softball. You could hear it smack him in the skull. We turn to see some guy in the stands taking credit, and then the guy behind us races over, jumps into the stands and a nice fight breaks out.
Then, after about a 25 minute or more delay, some Suit-boy comes up, brief case in hand, and says that due to lack of sales they are canceling. A very small riot ensues. Every man for himself. Chairs start getting knocked over, lots of screaming and shouting. My buddy Dean jumped up on stage, and swiped some poor roadie's Iron Maiden Purgatory shirt, and threw it to me, jumped down and said "Let's get the fuck out of here!"
Tape ball fights, steel chairs, kind of wrestling match-ish.
Went w/ Dean, we had been dropped off by his mom or mine, and we had no ride.
We found our buddy Dan on drag after, slopping down on some chunky trailer trash chick, and drank cherry a ton of Cherry vodka.
We then saw an upper classman we all knew named Puck, a big pretty fat dude that would always be at the concerts. He was so drunk he couldn't walk, wandering around totally wasted. So, we picked him up walking around on the drag, and got him home.
Later that night I got dropped off at my other home, the Lopez house, and puked my guts up outside while walking to my house. Cherry vodka, bad shit man.

Thanks to Matt for getting me the correct date! Really appreciated.

    1. Thanks man!
That actually makes a lot of sense. I remember now it was the last concert before school started, or the first of the year.
August 26, I really appreciate it.
