Concert #008
April 29, 1983 - Ector County Coliseum (7) - Odessa, Texas

Def Leppard (1) [Pyromania
Krokus (1) [Headhunter
Jon Butcher Axis band
Uriah Heep?

Went with Dan Beech and Dean Spit Purvis, I think.
Jon Butcher was up first. This was my second time to see him, the first time he got hit in the head with a cup of ice, and somebody yelled, "Jimmi", 'cause they thought he was kinda ripping off Jimmi Hendrix, I guess. He had one tune they played a little on FM radio.
Krokus was awesome! This was still Krokus, before everybody left, They were so much grittier, and tighter that they would be just a year or so later. Marc Storace was so great. Long Stick Goes Boom, Screamin in the Night, fuck yes!
Def Leppard was great. This was before they jumped the shark, and "Steamin'" Steve Clark was alive, and so was Rick Allen's Left Arm. They played a lot of tunes from the first two albums, threw in the best songs from Pyromania and it was all good.
Joe's voice seemed a little more stressed live, and I was a bit pissed that they had fired Pete Willis and replaced him with some nancy boy named Phil Collen. Overall a good show, right before they got too fucking big.
I purchased a  Def Leppard jersey, and a Krokus jersey.

I think Uriah Heep may have opened the show with like a 5 song set. I seem to remember a giant tapestry of the Abominog cover, and I see that they were in El Paso the same night as this tour, so I am just trying to put two and two together here. If anyone remembers clearly, let me know in the comment section.

RIP "Steamin'" Steve Clark - Tuesday 8 January 1991, Clark was found dead on his couch by Dean.[4] He was 30 years old. The postmortem revealed that the cause of death was accidental, due to a compression of the brain stem causing respiratory failure. This respiratory failure was caused by a lethal mixture of alcohol and prescription drugs. The autopsy also found that Clark had a blood alcohol level of .30 as well as the presence of morphine. No evidence of suicidal intent was discovered. Daniel Van Alphen, Clark's drinking companion the night before, testified that they went to a local pub and returned to Clark's home at midnight to watch a video.

RIP Rick Allen's Left Arm - 31 December 1984, Allen was involved in an automobile accident with his Dutch girlfriend Miriam Barendsen in the countryside a few kilometres west of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. While trying to pass another car at a high speed, he lost control of his Corvette C4, which hit a dry stone wall and entered a field. He was thrown from the car because his seatbelt had been improperly fastened, causing his left arm to be severed, while his girlfriend only suffered some bruising. Doctors initially reattached Allen's arm, but because of an infection, it had to be re-amputated. His right shoulder was also severely broken in the accident.
